Truth About Fat Loss
from:In this article I want to highlight one of the biggest health
issues facing humankind - obesity, and why we are only getting
fatter even with the millions of weight loss products available
in the market today. About two-thirds of adults in the US are
overweight, with one-third being obese. Obesity, and its
directly related life-threatening health issues (heart disease,
type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea etc) are now a common occurrence
and can dramatically affect yourself or your loved ones.
The weight loss and dieting industry is one of the largest and
most lucrative industries around, with North Americans spending
billions of dollars each year on pills, potions, diet books and
all sorts of weird exercise contraptions. Yet our waistlines are
growing bigger by the day. If all the scientists and experts are
utilising their collective wisdom to pump out so many different
products with little to no positive effect, why do we keep
buying these products?
We have many things against us, from our genetic history (we
used to chase our food all day with spears!) to our modern
sophisticated society (we don't even walk the 1km to the
fast-food joint!), and we have managed to use our basic human
instincts to make us fat. These instincts include; growing,
cultivating and breeding our food sources in MASS abundance.
Using our basic desires for high-fat and high-sugar (read:
high-energy) foods to hook people on junk food and takeaway, all
in the name of big profits. Oh, and lets not forget our
over-eating habits, one of the strongest primal human desires
(behind reproduction!) to preserve energy just in case we can't
find another meal for a while.
So what should we do about all this, and why aren't we being
told what's needed to combat our obesity issues? The truth is...
we can't handle the truth! We are too attached to the notion of
the 'quick-fix' or the 'miracle-cure' and are too lazy or
weak-willed to face up to the truth - that it will require
EFFORT and DETERMINATION over a LONG PERIOD OF TIME to reverse
our bad habits. How long did it take to put on that 10, 20 or 50
pounds? Months? Maybe even a couple of years? Well how could we
realistically believe that we could 'shed 15 pounds in 10 days'
with 'X-Pill', let alone keep it off for life? The bottom line
is this: ANYONE can achieve their fat-loss goals with the right
amount of effort, determination and commitment.
"But what diet pills should I be gobbling?" Don't bother, unless
you like throwing money away, in which case I would suggest
charitable donations are more deserving.
"But should I be eating low-fat, or low-carb foods?" I wouldn't
go out of my way for either one of them, as low-fat foods tend
to have added sugar, and low-carb or low-sugar foods are usually
jammed full of artificial sweeteners, and these have been linked
to their fair share of health problems.
"But don't I need an ab-roll-crunch miracle machine?" Hell no...
What's the point of giving those abs an hour of pain every day
if they're covered in 20lbs of belly fat? Lose the gut, then
we'll talk...
"But..." No more buts, all you need to focus on are whole
unprocessed and fresh foods, eating the right amounts (not
double the right amounts!) and replacing your typical sedentary
lifestyle to one that includes at least 30 minutes or more of
exercise every day. The kinds of habitual changes that you can
stick to for life without seeming like a drag, and can make a
dramatic change to your weight, your health and ultimately your
happiness...
